Official Patch of The Unreliable Bestiary
Yes folks, you too can own a beautiful, sanctioned, holy Unreliable Bestiary patch JUST LIKE THE RANGERS IN THE UNRELIABLE BESTIARY!
While working on the design for this patch I revisited Trevor Paglen’s amazing little book, I Could Tell You But Then You Would Have to be Destroyed by Me: Emblems from the Pentagon’s Black World. A lot of the military patches in Paglen’s book have a kind of pidgeon latin/greek thing happening, so I went with my own Google-ish motto: Omnibus Creaturis Ad Inexplorata … which, today, as I type, has shifted in Google-land and does not come out to what it originally said .. which was “All Creatures Into the Unknown.”
There are 26 stars for The Bestiary’s 26 performances – one for each letter of the alphabet. There is a grizzly bear because I had a visceral, waking dream where I turned into a bear. And there’s a trumpeter swan because my dad was one of the people who helped reintroduce trumpeter swans back into Minnesota in the 70’s.
